The Tak (Slide) occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1700 metres on the northeast side of a north-trending ridge, approximately 16 kilometres west of the northwest end of Germansen Lake.

Regionally, the area lies at the contact between volcanic rocks of the Lower Jurassic Twin Creek Formation of the Middle Triassic-Lower Jurassic Takla Group, and probably Lower Jurassic dioritic and monzodioritic phases of the Upper Triassic to Lower Cretaceous Hogem Intrusive Complex. The contact is a complex hybrid zone of intrusive, subvolcanic, and volcanic rocks. Volcanic textures are difficult to discern due to contact metamorphism; many volcanic fragments occur as ghost outlines and clots of epidote suggesting resorption and metasomatic alteration with intrusive phases.

Locally, the occurrence area is underlain by subhorizontal plagioclase, hornblende, and augite-bearing heterolithic lapilli tuffs typical of the lower part of the Twin Creek Formation. The Upper Triassic Witch Lake Formation (Takla Group) outcrops just below the Twin Creek Formation at an elevation of approximately 1700 metres. A small plug of leucocratic syenite outcrops east of the occurrence and quartz feldspar porphyry dikes intrude the northern part of Goat Ridge. Northeast of the occurrence, cliff-forming limestone reef is perched on the side of Eaglenest Mountain within augite phyric basaltic flows and agglomerates of the Plughat Mountain Formation.

At the Slide zone, a potassic-altered andesite hosting quartz ± carbonate stringers with disseminations and stringers of pyrite and chalcopyrite.

In 1966, a sample (6370) of augite andesite with disseminated pyrite and chalcopyrite assayed 1.43 per cent copper, 13.7 grams per tonne silver and 0.69 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 816).

In 1990, a grab (10126) of potassic-altered andesite hosting quartz stringers with disseminated and stringer pyrite and chalcopyrite from the Slide zone assayed 2.15 per cent copper, 0.16 gram per tonne gold and 25.2 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 20838).

In 1991, two grab samples (C91TK006 and P91TK014) from outcrops hosting narrow mineralized quartz-calcite veins in narrow quartz-ankerite shear zones in the Slide zone yielded values up to 0.60 gram per tonne gold, 59.3 grams per tonne silver, 2.66 per cent copper, 0.10 per cent lead and 0.13 per cent zinc, whereas two grab samples (P91TK018 and 022) from the west side of the same ridge as the Slide zone yielded 0.12 and 0.13 gram per tonne gold, respectively (Assessment Report 22145).

In 2006, sampling from the Slide area yielded values of up to greater than 1.00 per cent copper, 0.077 per cent antimony, 14.8 grams per tonne silver and 0.11 gram per tonne gold (Sample 407747; Assessment Report 29011). Also at this time, three diamond drill holes, totalling 959.7 metres, were completed on the Slide occurrence area and intersected a sequence of intermediate to mafic volcanic rocks with sporadic copper-bearing quartz veinlets yielding narrow intercepts of up to 0.469 per cent copper and 3.2 grams per tonne silver over 1.0 metre in hole TK06-01 and 0.229 per cent copper, 3.9 grams per tonne silver and 0.28 gram per tonne gold over 1.0 metre in hole TK06-03 (Assessment Report 29011).
